We are a Full Service fire department providing Fire protection to all types of aircraft both military and civilian commercial. We protect the approximately one million passengers that fly in and out of the Des Moines International Airport by providing full paramedic emergency medical service, Hazardous Materials mitigation, various types of technical rescue services, and perform fire safety inspections for all structures located on the Iowa Air National Guard facility located at the Des Moines Airport.

WHAT CHRIS' JOB MEANS TO HIS FAMILY AND COMMUNITY:
For me and my family this job is what really supports us. I have been able to learn and use skills that I take home with me to share with my community. I have volunteered as a fire fighter, teach CPR at my church to anyone who want the class at no charge, provide limited emergency medical services when I can for church functions and community functions. This career with the State of Iowa serves an important role for the community.
