National Memorial
Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. lost his life in Memphis, TN where he
had gone to support striking sanitation workers in their
fight to get the city to recognize their union, AFSCME Local
1733. |

Today,
AFSCME is helping to raise the funds to build a memorial to
Dr. King on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The
groundbreaking occurred Nov. 13, 2006, and the dedication is
scheduled for 2008. |
